| Approximately
10% of preschool and elementary children have
later developing speech, language, mild social
difficulty, and/or mild learning challenges. Developmental
issues are not typically covered by insurance.
In response, SpeechKids introduced small groups
to offer an affordable way to address developmental
skills, These groups consist of two to four children,
all with mild articulation, language, and/or social
needs. |

TALK groups are similar to the types of
speech and language groups often seen in
school settings. The children attend for
45 or 60 minutes. They play games and participate
in language experientials as they practice
their speech sounds, listening skills, language
skills, and social skills. |
 |
| TALK groups are conducted
by a speech language pathologist and, if
needed, a speech language para-professional.
A treatment plan is designed for each child
by the therapist. With a team approach,
it is possible to give individualized instruction
as needed. |
| Schools have been utilizing
this format successfully for decades. Unfortunately,
many districts have discontinued services
for mild delays as they may not adversely
affect learning. |
| TALK groups are $50.00
per 45 minutes session and $75 for 60 minutes
session, after cash discount, and are limited
to 2-4 children. |
